The Purdue University Engineering Management (EM) Program is an intensive, one-week residential program of study (Monday-Friday, April 28 - May 2, 2008) at Purdue's main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. A recognized success celebrating its twentieth year, our program is designed for experienced engineers, scientists, technical specialists, and engineering managers who have a desire to update and/or enhance their technical skills and managerial abilities. Program participants have an opportunity to select from an annually revised, integrated set of courses for the engineering manager, manager-to-be, or technical professional seeking grounding in current business thinking and skills. These courses:
- Draw upon the combined talents of faculty members from Purdue's College of Engineering and Krannert School of Management, as well as other experts selected for their academic and industrial credentials and consulting experience with business and industry.
- Cover state-of-the-art developments in selected technical areas of current importance.
- Provide the managerial tools needed to function effectively in today's demanding business environment.
The result is a substantial opportunity for professional growth that benefits both the individual participant and the sponsoring organization.
Who should attend
A typical program participant is someone with at least five years of experience, primarily in technical activities, who now has managerial responsibilities--and aspirations for more. The program design does not assume prior formal management training. However, those with such training will find the courses both broadening and stimulating.
