Admissions criteria for the Weekend MBA Program are consistent with AACSB International and Purdue Graduate School specifications. They include:
- Previous academic record;
- Work experience and employment history;
- Employer recommendations; and
- For certain applicants, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and/or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), both standard international tests offered throughout the year.
In practice, we anticipate that admission to the program will be contingent upon the following:
- Completion of a baccalaureate degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale;
- A minimum of 3 years' work experience and a current position of significant responsibility;
- Two supporting letters of recommendation;
- A GMAT score of at least 500 for those who take the test; and
- A computer-version TOEFL score of 213 or better for non-native speakers of English.
Please note that the GMAT is not a blanket requirement for admission. Substantial work experience and/or prior graduate education may prompt us to waive the GMAT. Nonetheless, we strongly recommend the test to program applicants, and a good score on the test will enhance any applicant's chances for admission. The test may be required of applicants whose other credentials need strengthening.
Our program's admissions office makes its decisions about applicants on a case-by-case basis. In addition, they may require a personal interview with certain applicants--again, where there are issues related to the strength of other credentials.
Please complete application forms and all supporting materials no later than December 15, 2007, to facilitate review by the program's admissions office. We encourage early application, as we:
- Accept applications and approve admissions on a continuing basis,
- Cap enrollment upon reaching an appropriate class size (maximum of 60 participants).
Accordingly, applicants who are taking the GMAT and/or TOEFL tests should plan to do so as early as possible (certainly no later than October 31, 2007). Applicants who have previously taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Law School Admission Test (LSAT) may substitute the scores on one of those tests for the GMAT. Moreover, applicants who have previously earned a post-baccalaureate degree are generally not required to take the GMAT.
Specific materials required for application to the Weekend MBA Program (including links as relevant) are the following:
- A completed application (https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=purdue-som).
- Two official transcripts from each institution of higher education attended. We require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent, and transcripts must indicate grades earned for all courses taken. Photocopies of transcripts are not acceptable unless certified by the issuing institution as true copies of the original documents. For international documents, please supply original language transcripts, as well as certified English translations of those transcripts. Transcripts must indicate the date of graduation and the degree conferred. If not, we require an official or certified diploma in the original language and a certified English translation of that diploma.
- Two letters of recommendation, each of which should be on the writer's organizational letterhead--one letter should be from the person to whom the applicant reports. Please note that form-letter recommendations are unacceptable.
- For those required to take it, a GMAT score of 500 or above (you may substitute a GRE or LSAT score if you have already taken those tests and can provide an official score report). If you previously took the GMAT, GRE, or LSAT, please request that your scores be mailed to Purdue University. If you plan to take the GMAT, GRE, or LSAT, please ensure that your scores are sent to PURDUE UNIV, WL/EXECUTIVE MBA (Institution Code 1698--and please note that on January 3, 2006, Purdue's GMAT Institution Code will change from 1698 to 1RZ-R6-45). The GRE also requires a Department Number; please use 4299-Business Mgmt- Other to ensure receipt of your scores.

- A TOEFL score report for non-native speakers of English. The score report should be no older than two years at the time Purdue's Graduate School reviews all application materials. Scores must be documented via official report sent to Purdue from ETS. Please select PURDUE UNIV, WL/EXECUTIVE MBA (Institution Code 1698) on the test form.
