A successful candidate to the Krannert Executive Master's Program will have the following:
- Completion of a baccalaureate degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale;
- A minimum of five years' work experience in positions of increasing professional responsibility;
- A current position of significant responsibility;
- At least two letters of recommendation;
- Optional GMAT score of 520 or above if submitted to enhance application materials
Please note: EMB program requirements are consistent with the specifications of our accrediting body, the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the Purdue University Graduate School.
Application requirements for the EMB program:
- A completed application.
- Two letters of recommendation on company letterhead - one should be from the candidate's manager.
- Please note: no recommendation "form letters" are acceptable
- all recommendations must be on the author's company letterhead stationery.
- A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report for non-native speakers of English.
- TOEFL scores must be no older than two years at the time the application
credentials are reviewed by our Graduate School. Scores must be documented
by an official report from Educational Testing Service (ETS) and sent
to Purdue University. Please select PURDUE UNIV, WL/Executive MBA
(institution code 1698) on the test form.
- A score of 550 for the written TOEFL or 213 for the computerized
TOEFL is required by the Purdue Graduate School.
- For TOEFL information, phone 1-609-771-7100 or visit the TOEFL
website.
- Two official transcripts from each higher institution attended.
- Non-U.S. citizens must provide certified transcripts showing "grades
earned" both in the original language and in English. Photocopies
are not accepted unless they have been certified by the issuing institution.
Transcripts must indicate the date of graduation and the degree conferred;
if they do not, an official or certified diploma in the original language
and a certified English translation of that diploma are required.
- If you have previously taken the GMAT, a score of 520 or above is required. A GRE score can also be considered for those who have already taken that test and can provide an official score report. Please request that your scores be mailed to Purdue University and indicate PURDUE UNIV, WL/EXECUTIVE MBA (institution code 1698) as the school to which you want your scores sent. A department number is also needed for the GRE: please use 4299-Business Mgmt-Other.
- The GMAT is not a blanket requirement for admission. Substantial work experience and/or prior
graduate education may allow the GMAT to be waived. Nonetheless, the test is strongly recommended
for program applicants, and a good score on the test will enhance any applicant’s chances for admission.
The test may be required of applicants whose other credentials need strengthening. These decisions will
be made by the program’s admissions office on a case-by-case basis. In addition, a personal interview
may be required of certain applicants, again where there are issues related to the strength of other
credentials.
- Applicants who have completed a post-graduate degree from an accredited university generally will
be exempt from the GMAT requirements. Exemption decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
- To contact the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to register for
the GMAT or to obtain PowerPrep software for self-study, phone 800-366-6227
in the U.S; 609-771-7330 outside the U.S.; or visit the GMAT
website.

- Completed application forms and supporting documents, including the
GMAT score report, should be received by the program's admissions committee
no later than June 1, 2008. Early application is encouraged, since enrollment
is restricted to approximately 55 qualified participants per entering
class, and admissions are approved on a continuing basis as received.
Accordingly, applicants who have not already done so should plan to
take the GMAT well in advance of the June 1 application deadline, preferably
by April, 2008.
